How to have both (1.0-1.7) version of cod4 on your PC

Mingus asked me to put here the tuturial to have both version on same pc.

So here it is again 5 easy steps to have 2 version of Cod4 on your PC!!

Find your callofduty4 folder on your PC, normally it is on C:\ program files\ activision\Call of Duty 4 Modern warfare! If its not here than you installed your game somewhere else! (easy to find just make a search from the start menu)

1, So when u find it, first of all, go in and find a folder inside named: players!! Make a safe copy of this folder! (this contains your players profile so with the safe copy you cant lose your profile!)

2, Go out and make a right click on the Call of Duty4 Modern warfare folder (the main folder of the game) and copy! Find a place on your computer, doesnt matter where and paste the Callofduty4 folder there its around 8 Gbyte! Now u have 2 callofduty4 game on your computer so you need to upgrade 1 of them!

3, Go to our website: www.sweetrevengeclan.net ( go next page to find the links to down the patches)and u can find the patches under MEDIA button! Download them! (go next page to find the links to down the patches) Dont click on RUN, click on SAVE and save them on your PC! You need both the 1.4 and 1.5!!!

4, If its done start the 1.4 it will ask where do u want to install it, browse the copied callofduty4 folder and install it in that! Do the same with the 1.5 patch!
Now u have a 1.0 and a 1.5 version!

Since we have upgraded to 1.6 you will need the 1.6 patch now and install it on the same way you did with the others.

And do the same thing with the 1.7 patch

5, Go into the copied callofduty4 folder and find iw3mp.exe! This file start ur game! Do a rightclick on it and create a shortcut on ur desktop name it like cod4 1.7


For vista users, you can find your players folder here:

c:/users/(whatever account your on)/appdata/local/virtual store/Program fils x86/Activision/call of duty4/players/profiles

And about step 4, it says start with 1.4, so i dont have start with 1.1/1.3?

yes i know a save copy just copy your whole game file and rename it version 1.0 or whatever

LOL im still not really getting this! So i make a safe copy(normal copy?) of file players.. but to where? or i just press copy and thats it? And my cod4 file is around 6,28 gb.. is that correct or im a missing some files?

He's saying, Copy the WHOLE folder Call of Duty4: Modern Warefare folder and paste it on desktop or something. Then download the patches and put them in the Copied Call of duty folder, That's what I think he meant.

I had cod4 installed on my external disc, and i put under games.
So when i enter games files i have 3 files; builds, content and cod4
also pb setup, a textdocument readme, and 2 html documents pbuser, pbgame.
So do copy paste cod4 file? or do i have copy everything(the games file 11.8 gb)

i dont know tbh, open up the folders and take a screen shot then upload and i'll see if u need to copy it

Where is the folder COD4 MW just copy and put in other place i for example put on D: (copy from C: to D:) and next apply the patches manually by choosing on the target the new copy place, is simple! is around 6 GB

Ok im copying the cod4 file(6,28gb) to my external disc and its gonna take a few minutes...

oh forgot 2 mention but i have my original cod4 file also in my external disc(F) and im copying it also to(F) is that ok?

yeah.. the important that is a different place for the patches!

ok its now copied, and no i will download the patches from sweetrevenge site..

Hey dffalt, i clicked the media button but there are no patches only youtube movies :S

If u don't find the patches on this site try search on goolge, if u cant find on google search too,i can upload, just say!

ok the first link was a setup and i just finished installing the 1.4 on copied cod4.
But the second one is winrar, do i have to extract to copied cod4?

yes. i think u need 1.6 too.. im trying to find
